As a Buy-Here-Pay-Here or self-servicing dealership tied to one of the larger automotive dealerships in the area, UR Approved has the goal of being the first and last touch for every viable lead that comes into the dealership.
“This is the hardest time to sell,” says Joe Las, General Manager at UR Approved. “And the worst time to buy a car with bad credit.”
Many lenders have tightened credit score requirements and debt-to-income limits for high-risk segments like subprime borrowers. Subprime interest rates are the highest they’ve been in years, and the interest rates or monthly payments scare away buyers who don’t want to commit to the first deal they see. This is the primary market for UR Approved.

To do this, UR Approved relies on Vanillasoft to ensure the dealership removes as many hurdles as possible, while doing the little things that make all the difference to their sales team and customers. Right now, the team is contacting leads 83% faster than before, and generating an additional $65 thousand in profit each month.
“Prospects come in and many don’t commit,” says Joe. “But while they are still out shopping, Vanillasoft lets my reps keep in touch, so we always get the last look.” Vanillasoft also helps UR Approved remove connection barriers.
Using Vanillasoft, UR Approved’s new cadence and connection style makes a huge difference. They use email to warm-up the prospect before a phone call from the dealership (not an unknown number that will likely be labeled as spam). They also match area codes so calls originate from a local area code, which prospects are more likely to answer.
Most pre-approved loans expire after 30 days, and getting approved again requires another credit check which reduces the prospect’s credit rating. So most dealers stop calling after four weeks. But UR Approved found that people often buy well into the third month of car shopping if they can use soft credit checks, so the dealership extended their cadence. That alone has added an additional 13% growth in revenue.
Vanillasoft helped UR Approved set up the call cadence in a way that works best for them. When the phone sales group sets up an appointment, the software reminds them to ask the prospect to upload or bring with them proof of income and proof of residence. This makes it possible for UR Approved to get the customers the best deal and rate. The cadence works so well, they haven’t changed it in more than a year.
UR Approved employs the Intellective Routing feature in Vanillasoft to prioritize records automatically. Every six seconds the system scans all of the available prospects and moves the most valuable prospects to the top. So the UR Approved team is always working on the next best lead.

By automatically shuffling leads, the system eliminates cherry picking by assigning each sales person the next best prospect, and many prospects come in with a scheduled time to meet with a specific sales associate. The UR Approved team can have that shopper arrive with their stipulations (proof of income and proof of residence) already in place, which is one of the ways Vanillasoft has helped increase their close rate by 52%.
Between August 2024 and July 2025, the sub- and deep sub-prime loan volume for cars averaged only 5% growth versus 30% for UR Approved. Their amazing growth has caught the eye of Stelantis, even though UR Approved is just an office in the service department of a much bigger dealership.
“With Vanillasoft I've made more money than the new car department while doing less volume,” explains Joe. “The crazy part is, it's never been harder to sell. It's bananas.”
